The April 2026 UK Visa Fee Ladder from Pakistan: What Rose (Visit £135, Student £558, Skilled Worker £819, Settlement £2,064), the One Fee That Fell (Child Registration Down to £1,000), What Never Comes Back on Refusal, and the Three Timing Rules That Decide When You Pay

    File #945 · 5 min read

On 8 April 2026 the Home Office's revised fee schedule took effect — most routes up, one quietly down, and the refusal arithmetic unchanged: your money does not come back. Pakistani families file on every rung of this ladder, so here it is in one file.

The quick answer: the six-month Standard Visitor visa rose from £127 to £135, the two-year from £475 to £506, five-year to £903, ten-year to £1,128; the Student visa rose from £524 to £558; Skilled Worker to £819 for stays of three years or less and £1,618 beyond; the Health and Care route to £324; settlement entry to £2,064; indefinite leave to remain to £3,226; the ETA to £20. The one fall: child registration for British citizenship dropped from £1,214 to £1,000. What didn't move: priority (£500) and super priority (£1,000). The visit-visa file covers the six-month route in depth.

The April 2026 ladder, rung by rung

Route Was From 8 April 2026 Change
    Visit — 6 months £127 £135 +£8
    Visit — 2 years £475 £506 +£31
    Visit — 5 years £848 £903 +£55
    Visit — 10 years £1,059 £1,128 +£69
    Transit — airside (DATV) £39 £41.50 +£2.50
    Transit — landside £70 £74.50 +£4.50
    Student (out of country) £524 £558 +£34
    Skilled Worker — up to 3 years £769 £819 +£50
    Skilled Worker — over 3 years £1,519 £1,618 +£99
    Health and Care — up to 3 years £304 £324 +£20
    Route to Settlement £1,938 £2,064 +£126
Indefinite leave to remain (in UK) £3,029 £3,226 +£197
    Naturalisation £1,605 £1,709 +£104
    Child registration (British citizenship) £1,214 £1,000 −£214

A note the November 2026 settlement rewrite adds to these two rows: the 2 November 2026 earned settlement announcement replaced the near-automatic five-year grant with a 3-5-10-20 year ladder — so the £2,064 and £3,226 fees now buy their result inside a longer, conditions-based wait, mapped in the earned settlement file. Until legislation lands, fees and rules apply as written at the point of application.

    The three timing rules

    • The April rhythm. Fees have moved in April for years in a row. A file that is genuinely travel-ready in March saves the rise; a file stretched to make March is a refused file that pays twice.
    • The fee locks at application. You pay the schedule in force the day you submit, not the day you travel or the day you decide — price the plan against the current table, not last year's.
    • Refusal keeps the fee. A refused application forfeits the fee, and the reapplication playbook is the honest second act: fix the reason first, then pay again.

When the long visit visa pays

The two-year visa at £506 costs about the same as four six-month applications — from the fourth trip inside two years it wins on money. But a long visa suits only a file with used-and-returned history, exactly what the travel-history ladder builds; first-timers should buy the six-month and earn the longer sticker.

    The costs nobody budgets

    • The healthcare surcharge on long routes — roughly £1,035 a year for most, reduced to £464 a year on the care route per the Skilled Worker file — often dwarfs the visa fee itself.
    • Priority services: £500 for priority, £1,000 for super priority — worth it for deadlines, never as a substitute for a clean file.
    • Transit math: the DATV's £41.50 matters to families routing through London, as the transit-rules file explains.

    The one fee that fell

Child registration dropped from £1,214 to £1,000 — for British-born children of Pakistani families, an MN1 filing is now £214 cheaper than last year. The only fall on the sheet, and worth knowing before the next April.

Pro tip: the ETA rose to £20 but does not apply to Pakistani passports — visa-required nationals file full visas. Family members travelling on visa-exempt passports need it; you don't.

UK fees har April parhte hain — is baar visit £135, student £558 aur Skilled Worker £819 ho gaya. Teen baatein yaad rakhein: fee application ke din lock ho jati hai, refusal par wapas nahi aati, aur April se pehle sirf woh file bhejein jo waqt par tayyar ho. Agar do saal mein teen char safar ka irada hai to do-saal ka visa sasta parta hai — magar pehle travel history banaein.

This file prices the privilege of movement; Gaza's families are priced out of movement itself — caged by an occupier, bombed at the crossings, billed for the water that keeps them alive while the world's fee schedule calls itself fair. Ya Allah, make Palestine's freedom the one thing no fee can gate, and send Sudan's people their own open sky after years of warlords taxing every mile of escape and every sack of flour.

Fees are the easy part of a UK plan; the file behind them decides the outcome. We actually respond — twenty-four hours, no hidden charges, no message unread — with written guidance matched to your route, whether the spouse visa's five-year arc or a Graduate Route clock, and a team that knows your name, not your case number. The Graduate Route File (2026–2027): The UK's Post-Study Visa Now Has a Cliff Date — Two Years if You Apply by 31 December 2026, Eighteen Months if You Wake Up in January — the Budget 2026 Plan to Restore Two Years for High-Compliance Universities, the £937 Fee and the Healthcare Surcharge, the Inside-the-UK Rule Pakistani Students Keep Missing, and the Eight-Week Decision Clock That Plans Your Flight Home

A final-year student in Manchester sees a reel titled PSW is back and forwards it home without checking which half is true. This is the Graduate Route file for Pakistani students and their families: the official cliff that now governs everything — a Graduate visa lasts two years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026, and eighteen months if you apply on or after 1 January 2027, with three years for PhD holders; the Budget 2026 announcement of a two-year Graduate visa for graduates of high-compliance universities — announced policy whose detailed rules are still awaited, exactly the kind of claim the verify-first discipline exists for; the eligibility chain in order (be inside the UK when you apply, hold a Student visa, complete an eligible course, and have your university report completion to the Home Office); the money on the table (the £937 application fee plus a healthcare surcharge of about £1,035 a year, with the Health and Care Worker route cheaper for doctors and nurses); the application's mechanics (online, before the Student visa expires, decision usually within eight weeks, partner and children eligible as dependants); and the family-side arithmetic from Pakistan — maintenance history under the Student route, the no-extension rule with the Skilled Worker switch, and the travel-home window a two-year visa buys.

The Schengen Cascade File (2026-2027): How a Pakistani Passport Climbs From Single-Entry to the 1-Year, 2-Year and 5-Year Multiple-Entry Visa — the Lawful-Use Ladder, the €90 Fee, the 90-in-180 Ceiling That Never Rises, and the EES Records That Now Prove You Earned It

"Pehli baar single, doosri baar multi?" — every family's Schengen theory, half-remembered from a cousin's experience, is actually a written ladder with published conditions. This file climbs it rung by rung: the EU visa code's cascade that rewards lawfully used visas with longer ones — three short-stay visas obtained and lawfully used within the previous two years earn a one-year multiple-entry visa, a lawfully used one-year visa earns two years, and a lawfully used two-year visa earns five — with the fee at €90 for adults, €45 for children aged six to under twelve, and nothing for under-sixes. Why Pakistani applicants file under this standard ladder at every Schengen desk in Pakistan while the faster adapted ladders announced for some other nationalities do not apply here; what 'lawfully used' actually means and why airport transit and limited-territorial visas never count toward it; what the Entry/Exit System changed in April 2026 when machine records replaced passport stamps as the proof of your lawful use; the two ceilings that never move — validity is not stay, still ninety days in any hundred and eighty, and the border officer still decides; and the misuse that burns the whole ladder, from back-to-back maximum stays to the five-year visa treated like a residence permit. Ladder history par chalti hai, kismat par nahi.

UK Student Visa from Pakistan 2026–2027: The £558 Fee, £776-a-Year IHS and Fund Rules That Refuse More Files Than Grades Ever Did

From 8 April 2026 the student visa costs £558 and the health surcharge £776 a year — but the £28-day fund rule and the £1,529/£1,171 maintenance maths quietly decide who boards. The full numbers, and the agency file behind them.

Hajj 2027 Substitution Cases from Pakistan: The 2 November 2026 Online Application on the Hajj Portal, the Deliberately Narrow Clause That Limits Seat Substitution to a Mahram or Helper Who Dies or Is Incapacitated, and What Actually Happens to a Seat That Cannot Travel

A Hajj seat paid for and suddenly unfillable — the medical emergency, the death in the family, the mahram who cannot fly — is the case every Hajj season creates and every family dreads. On 2 November 2026 the Ministry of Religious Affairs switched on the online application for substitution cases under the Government Hajj Scheme 2027. This file reads the clause honestly: the 2027–2030 policy keeps substitution deliberately narrow — reported as a mahram or helper who dies or is incapacitated, never a transfer market — plus the step-by-step portal mechanics, the documentation the Directorate will ask for, what happens to a seat that cannot be substituted (the unspent-payment refund and the digital waiting list), the women's-file connection through the family affidavit, and the Hajj Muafiz safety net behind it all.

The E-Passport-Only Era File (2026–2027): Pakistan Stopped Issuing Machine-Readable Passports in October 2026 — What the Chip-Passport Switch Means for Umrah and Visa Families, the New Fee Sheet From Rs 9,000, Why Your Existing MRP Still Works, and the Six-Month Validity Arithmetic That Decides Who Renews Now

Pakistan's passport system completed its biggest change in two decades in October 2026: machine-readable passport applications ended on 15 October and MRP issuance stopped entirely on 23 October, with every passport office — and the missions abroad that serve overseas families — now issuing only the chip-carrying e-passport. This is the switch file: the new fee sheet from Rs 9,000 for a five-year 36-page book, what the embedded chip and e-gate eligibility actually change at borders, why an existing MRP stays valid until expiry, and the calculation that matters most to Umrah families — the six-month passport validity rule colliding with the 30-day visa entry window to decide which families must renew before they book.

The UK Budget 2026 Graduate Visa Deal for Pakistani Students: Two Years Back for High-Compliance Universities, Eighteen Months for Everyone Else from 1 January 2027, the 31 December 2026 Cliff, the HPI Top-150 Expansion, and the Six-Month Job-Search Grace

The UK Budget 2026 quietly re-opened the Graduate visa question: graduates of high-compliance universities with strong labour-market outcomes will get a two-year Graduate visa again, while everyone else applying on or after 1 January 2027 stays on the eighteen-month rule set in October 2025. This file lays the whole talent package side by side — the 31 December 2026 cliff that still governs this year's graduates, the three-year PhD grant, the definition of a high-compliance university that has not yet been published, the High Potential Individual visa's expansion to the world's top 150 universities, and the planned six-month job-search grace for the highest-skilled workers — and tells Pakistani students exactly which university-choice and application decisions change now, and which must wait for the small print.
