The E-Passport-Only Era File (2026–2027): Pakistan Stopped Issuing Machine-Readable Passports in October 2026 — What the Chip-Passport Switch Means for Umrah and Visa Families, the New Fee Sheet From Rs 9,000, Why Your Existing MRP Still Works, and the Six-Month Validity Arithmetic That Decides Who Renews Now

Pakistan closed a chapter of its travel-document history in October 2026: machine-readable passport applications stopped on 15 October, and MRP issuance ended outright on 23 October 2026 — every passport office in the country, and the Pakistani missions abroad, now issues only the e-passport, the chip-carrying book inaugurated back in March 2022.

The quick answer: a machine-readable passport that is still valid works until its expiry date. But any new application, renewal or lost-passport replacement now produces an e-passport on a revised fee sheet, and for Umrah families the switch lands at the worst moment to ignore it — the six-month validity rule that governs when to apply for the Umrah visa starts with the passport, not the visa.

    The switch in one table

The fact The position after October 2026
New MRP applications Stopped 15 October 2026
MRP issuance at offices Ended 23 October 2026
What offices issue now e-passport only, at home and at missions abroad
    36-page, 5-year Rs 9,000 normal, Rs 15,000 urgent
10-year validity Rs 13,500 normal, Rs 22,500 urgent
Urgent delivery About 5 working days
Normal delivery About 21 working days

The quick-answer position on old books: an MRP stays valid until expiry, no forced replacement. The detailed fee levers — pages, validity, speed — and the two-day fast-track are mapped in the passport renewal file.

    What the chip actually changes

The e-passport carries a contactless NFC chip holding the holder's biometrics and a digital signature, with laser engraving and around twenty-nine security features, compliant with ICAO standards. In practice: faster automated e-gate lanes, harder forgery, cleaner data matching at visa counters. The application process barely changed — same offices, same documents, first and last names both mandatory, government employees still needing their NOC per the government-servant file, dual nationals still presenting the foreign passport as the dual-passport file requires.

The Umrah arithmetic that decides who renews now

    • Check expiry against arrival, not departure. Saudi rules want six months of passport validity beyond arrival; a passport with seven months left may still fail a December visa application.
    • Count the whole chain. Visa issuance, the 30-day entry window and the trip can span four months — renew first if the book gets thin inside that chain.
    • Children under 15 get five-year books only, and minors aged ten and above need the updated CRC with fingerprints or a Juvenile Card — school-holiday Umrah plans should check children's documents first.
    • Name mismatches kill more files than expiry — the CNIC, passport and visa record must agree, as the name-rules file shows, and a renewal is the cheapest moment to fix them.
    • Lost book in Saudi Arabia? The replacement now comes as an e-passport too — the lost-passport file still governs the emergency sequence.

    Who can safely wait

A family holding MRPs expiring in 2028 does nothing this season — the switch is about new issuance, not invalidation. The trap is the family that discovers a March 2027 expiry in December, with the urgent queue, the 21-working-day normal lane and the school calendar colliding. Renew early on the new sheet, let the online application walkthrough handle the portal, and track by SMS from 9988.

Pro tip: the cheapest passport strategy is still the earliest one — renew the moment a booked Umrah window makes the six-month margin tight, not when the visa agent asks for it.

Naya daur shuru ho gaya hai — ab sirf chip wala e-passport banta hai, purana machine-readable passport apni expiry tak chalta rahega. Agar passport ki expiry aur Umrah window ke darmiyan chhe mahine ka faasla nahin hai to pehle passport banwaein. Bachon ka CRC ya Juvenile Card pehle check karein, aur government servants ke liye NOC tay rakhein.

A passport says a person belongs somewhere; this October, Pakistani families queue for that proof in a new format — while Gaza's families hold documents for homes the occupier has already erased, their borders sealed by the same power that destroyed their registry of return. Ya Allah, give every Palestinian a country no database can delete and a road home no siege can close. And in Sudan, the war has made papers worth less than survival itself — families carrying birth certificates through fire, proving their children's names to a world that watched the burning. Ya Rab, restore Sudan's records, its homes and its peace, and let its people be counted alive, not among the lost.

The passport queue is where every Umrah file now begins. We actually respond, twenty-four hours, with no hidden charges and no message left unread — exclusive written guides for our clients, documents checked against visa rules before anyone pays, and families known by name, never by file numbers. The Fifteen-Day File (2026–2027): Pakistan's Private Hajj Scheme Closes Its Books on 20 November 2026 — the Ministry's Deadline for Selecting and Paying for Packages, the App-and-Portal-Only Rule With Its Warning Against Paying Individuals, What Actually Separates One Package From Another on the Menu, the Order of Operations for a Family Still Deciding, and What Missing the Date Means for the Hajj Year Itself

Two clocks ran this Hajj season and one has already stopped. This is the private-scheme file for Pakistan's still-deciding families: the Ministry of Religious Affairs setting 20 November 2026 as the deadline for selecting packages and completing payments under the Private Hajj Scheme 2027, every step running only through the Pak Hajj app and the Hajj Portal, the Ministry's explicit warning that pilgrims must not pay individuals or companies directly, the menu the season opened with — sixteen packages and more than 71,000 allocated private seats on the Ministry's digital portals — and what genuinely separates the options (duration tiers, Madinah-first versus Makkah-first routing, Maktab tiers and hotel categories, the e-contract that should match what was selected), the fortnight's real order of operations from passport validity and CNIC through what deliberately waits until later, the government-scheme comparison whose own instalment window closed on 20 October, and the multi-year waiting-list door the 2027–2030 policy keeps open for families who miss this one.

The NIMS Digital Polio Certificate File (2026–2027): Pakistani Airports Have Enforced the NADRA-Integrated Vaccination Certificate for Umrah Passengers Since 14 September 2026 — Karachi First, Then the Network — the Rs 100 Certificate, the Four-Week Dose Rule, the Twelve-Month Validity, Airport Emergency Counters for Urgent Departures, and What Still Separates It From the Meningitis ACYW Certificate

Since 14 September 2026 Pakistani airports enforce the NADRA-integrated digital polio vaccination certificate for Umrah passengers, a rollout that began at Karachi and now shapes every departure: the paper vaccination card has become a supporting document while the NIMS-issued digital certificate — downloaded from nims.nadra.gov.pk or the Pak Vaccination Pass app for Rs 100 — becomes what check-in actually checks. This is the certificate file: why the dose must fall between four weeks and twelve months before departure, which vaccine counts, how overseas Pakistanis register doses taken abroad, why children travelling on B-Forms need their own record, the six-hours-early airport counter for urgent travellers, and why this certificate still does not replace the meningococcal ACYW certificate Saudi Arabia demands.

The Government Servant's Umrah File (2026–2027): The NOC Timeline Nobody Warns Bureaucrats About — Permission From the Parent Department Before the Passport Before the Visa, the DGIP Rules for Government Employees, Leave Dates That Dodge the Office's December Crush and the Family That Waits on One Signature

Every Pakistani government employee who has done Umrah tells the same story: the visa was the easy part — the journey started at the department. This is the file for the civil servant's Umrah: why permission to proceed abroad comes from the parent division or head of department before anything else moves, what departmental action travelling without the NOC actually invites, and the four-gate sequence that follows — NOC, then the passport (for which the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports requires a No Objection Certificate from government, semi-government and autonomous-body employees; urgent service runs about five working days, normal about twenty-one), then the Umrah visa through a licensed operator with its six-month passport validity, Nusuk-linked hotel booking and polio-vaccination proof, and only then the flight — timed against the 30-day entry window so the leave calendar and the visa calendar agree. Plus the leave arithmetic that avoids the office's December crush, the Hajj note for civil servants who prefer the government scheme's fully digitized 2027 process, and the ten-to-twelve-week timeline that keeps the whole family off the waiting list.

The Visa Fee Stack File (2026-2027): Where the Umrah Money Actually Goes — SAR 535 Versus SAR 480 Versus the Operator's SAR 300, the Insurance Inside the Price, the 30-Day Entry Clock and What the Stack Never Covers

"Visa ki fee kitni hai?" is the first question every Pakistani family asks — and the honest answer is not one number but a stack. This file takes the stack apart, layer by layer, with the published figures: the tourist eVisa priced around SAR 535 online with the mandatory medical insurance bundled in; the visa-on-arrival counter at roughly SAR 480, split into a SAR 300 visa and SAR 180 of insurance; and the classic Umrah visa routed through a licensed operator, where the visa fee sits near SAR 300 with insurance of roughly SAR 100 to SAR 180 on top — three doors, three price tags, and eligibility rules that decide which door a Pakistani passport can actually walk through, since the eVisa and arrival counter generally demand a valid US, UK or Schengen visa or residence behind them. Then the clocks that decide whether the fee is money well spent: the 30-day entry window that 2026's rules welded to visa issuance — enter within thirty days or watch the fee die on the calendar — and the one-year multiple-entry visa's 90-day cumulative balance with its fresh Nusuk package and permit before every entry. What the bundled insurance actually pays for, what it quietly excludes, and why the 15 percent VAT on services around the Kingdom belongs in the family's arithmetic. And the part every invoice eventually teaches: the stack covers the right to enter — never the bed, the bus or the booking, which is why the fee is only the ticket, not the journey. Fee sirf ticket hai, safar ki poori qeemat nahi.

Umrah Flights From Pakistan (2026–2027): Direct vs Connecting, the October 2026 Riyadh Disruption, Jeddah Routes by City and Booking Around the 30-Day Visa Clock

The flight decision quietly decides how tired your family arrives at the Haram. The honest Umrah flights file from Pakistan: which airlines actually fly direct to Jeddah from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Sialkot, what the PIA Riyadh suspension of October 2026 means for pilgrims, why Gulf connections save money but add failure points, and why the 30-day visa entry rule means you never book flights before the visa is in hand.

The Passport File Before the Visa (2026–2027): Renewal Timelines, the 6-Month Rule, and the Name Spelling That Rejects Umrah Applications

The most rejected Umrah files in Pakistan never reach a Saudi officer — they die in the mismatch between a passport, a CNIC and an application form. The complete document file: how early to renew before travel, what the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports actually requires, why a married woman's CNIC detail can stall her passport, how one transliteration difference kills a Nusuk verification, and the correction order that fixes a broken file before any money moves.
