How to Report a Corruption Case in Pakistan (2025)

Pakistan's anti-corruption machinery has three doors, and picking the wrong one costs you a week of internal forwarding. The mistake almost everyone makes is blasting the same complaint to every address at once — treat it like a visa file instead: one office, one reference number, and escalation only when the deadline passes.

Pick the right door first

After the 2024 amendments, NAB handles cases involving Rs 500 million or more, or public-office holders. The FIA takes private-sector fraud, cybercrime, fake documents and human trafficking. Below the NAB threshold and outside the FIA's lanes, the provincial Anti-Corruption Establishments are the correct channel — a patwari demanding speed money belongs with your provincial ACE, not at the Chairman NAB's desk.

Filing with NAB

Use the complaint form at nab.gov.pk: your CNIC, the facts, and evidence files (PDF or JPG, up to 2 MB each). A tracking ID comes back by SMS and email, and an officer should contact you within about seven working days. Overseas Pakistanis can email [email protected]. And there is the old-fashioned route that still works: the Khuli Kachehri open hearing on the last Thursday of the month, 10 AM to 1 PM at regional DG offices, where walk-ins are heard directly.

Filing with FIA

The portal at complaint.fia.gov.pk takes financial fraud and fake-document cases — pick the category, upload bank slips, chat logs and screenshots, and save the tracking ID that arrives by SMS. The 1991 helpline now runs round the clock, and the WhatsApp line 0336-6006060 accepts photos and voice notes, which is useful when you are documenting a bribe demand as it happens.

The provincial ACEs

Punjab's Anti-Corruption Establishment is at ace.punjab.gov.pk with SMS short-code 1787; Sindh at acs.sindh.gov.pk; KP at ace.kp.gov.pk; Balochistan at ace.balochistan.gov.pk. Small graft, clerk-level extortion and municipal corruption are their daily bread.

Evidence that survives scrutiny

Whatever the door, the file beats the story: contracts, receipts, bank statements, recordings, asset details of the accused official. If the corruption played out on a phone, preserve the device and do not factory-reset it — the FIA forensic lab can recover deleted chats from a sealed phone, never from a wiped one. If the complaint stalls, escalate in writing to the Chairman NAB, the DG FIA or the provincial Chief Secretary, always quoting the original tracking ID and the acknowledgement you received.
