How to Check University Admission Merit Lists Online in Pakistan (2025 Edition)
Nobody loses a seat on the merit list itself. Seats are lost afterwards — in the three-to-five-day fee window, in the un-refreshed portal, in the waiting list nobody checked. So here is the 2025 map: where the lists live, how the number is built, and the small habits that keep a confirmed seat confirmed.
Where your list lives
Every university posts merit lists on its own admissions portal, and going direct beats searching on results day:
- Punjab University: admissions.pu.edu.pk/meritlist
- NUST: nust.edu.pk/admissions
- FAST: admissions.nu.edu.pk
- UET Lahore: admission.uet.edu.pk
- COMSATS: admissions.comsats.edu.pk
- IBA Karachi: khi.iba.edu.pk/admissions
- LUMS: admissions.lums.edu.pk
- QAU, GCU Lahore, BZU Multan, Karachi University: each runs an admissions section on its main site
Punjab University still supports SMS merit checks on 8334 for many programs, and several universities push status by WhatsApp or SMS if you opted in while applying. Keep your roll number, CNIC and application ID in one phone note — every portal asks for one of the three.
How the aggregate is built
Each university weighs the entry test differently, and knowing your formula tells you whether to chase the test or the transcripts:
- NUST: 75 percent NET, 15 percent FSc or A-Levels, 10 percent matric. The NET runs in computer-based sessions through the year and your best attempt counts.
- UET Lahore: 50 percent ECAT, 40 percent FSc, 10 percent matric. ECAT runs once a year, usually in July.
- FAST: 50 percent admission test, 40 percent intermediate, 10 percent matric.
- LUMS: roughly half your LCAT or SAT, 35 percent intermediate, 15 percent matric, with SAT applicants competing in their own pool.
Reading the list you are on
A merit list is several lists at once: open merit, self-finance, kinship, rural, disabled and minority seats, the Hafiz-e-Quran quota. Know which list carries your name before celebrating or despairing. If you land on the waiting list, the game is not over — every selected candidate who misses the fee deadline moves you up. Most universities issue at least three lists, each dropping the closing merit slightly, so a first-list miss is often a second-list name.
The fee window, where seats die
When your name appears, the clock starts: fee submission windows typically run three to five days, and the challan must clear within them. Screenshot the list, deposit the fee, upload the receipt, and check the portal once more the next morning. Every season, students celebrate a selection, assume the seat is theirs, and discover in week two that it was released to the waiting list. Do not be the story the admissions office tells the next batch.
A word also for the students of Palestine, whose names sit on a wait far longer than any university's — studying from wherever they must, still holding their places in classes they refuse to give up. Their patience puts our three-day windows in perspective.
One more thing we see every admission season: the mother who made mannats for this seat. When the fee is deposited and the place is truly yours, many families close that loop with a shukrana Umrah. We arrange those journeys at HTG Travels — hotel names in writing, departures from Sialkot, Lahore or Islamabad, paced for the most senior pilgrim in the family. It is our favourite file of the year.
