Hong Kong & Macau from Pakistan 2026–2027: Two Visa Files, the Golden Bus and the Disneyland Math
Skyline on one side, casino Cotai on the other, and a Disneyland in between — Hong Kong plus Macau is the compact city break Pakistani families keep postponing, usually because of one rumour: that the visas are impossible. They are not impossible. They are simply two separate files, and the people who treat them that way get their stamps.
The quick answer: Pakistani passports need a visa for both SARs, filed separately. Hong Kong's visit visa runs through the Immigration Department (form ID 1003A, plus a local sponsor's ID 1003B) and takes four weeks minimum once complete — often longer through the Karachi visa centre. Macau's rule is black and white: Pakistan is one of six nationalities that must apply in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate — single entry MOP 200, allow 4–6 weeks, no arrival counter for you. Flights have no nonstop — expect USD 607+ returns via Bangkok. October to December is the weather sweet spot.
The Hong Kong file
The Immigration Department processes your ID 1003A once every document lands: recent photo, passport copy, bank statements, employment proof and a flight itinerary. Then the detail most applicants miss — for leisure visits, the checklist asks for proof of the proposed visit, "e.g. receipt of joining a package tour." A receipted tour is literally the government's own example.
A local sponsor — a company or an individual Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above — files ID 1003B and strengthens the application considerably.
You can apply directly to the Immigration Department online, or hand the file to the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Karachi, which forwards it and warns applicants to expect one month or more. The issuance fee itself is modest — the department's published fee tables carry the current figure at approval.
Plan the calendar around the four-week clock, not around Eid deals — this file punishes last-minute planners.
The Macau file — and the rule that kills weekend plans
Macau's own government publishes the list: nationals of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam must apply in advance through a Chinese diplomatic mission. From Pakistan that means the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate General in Karachi. Single entry costs MOP 200 (roughly PKR 7,000) before the centre's charges; multiple-entry doubles it.
The standard window is 4–6 weeks, urgent processing 2–3 weeks when offered, with a validity of about three months and a 14–30 day stay. The document stack resembles a mild Schengen: six months of bank statements, employment or business proof, a police character certificate, hotel bookings and a cover letter.
And no — a valid Macau visa does not open Hong Kong, in either direction. Two files, two clocks, one departure date: the twin-submission discipline is what HTG Travels manages so neither stamp becomes the bottleneck.
Getting there, crossing over
No airline flies Karachi or Lahore nonstop to Hong Kong. The classic route is Thai Airways: a nonstop Karachi–Bangkok leg (TG342, about 4h 35m, late-night departure) followed by the Bangkok–Hong Kong hop. Late-2026 return fares start around USD 607–619; one-ways from roughly USD 343.
Once you land in Hong Kong, Macau is a 45-minute ride on the HZMB shuttle — the Golden Bus — across the world's longest sea-crossing bridge: HK$65 daytime, HK$70 overnight, running 24 hours, every 5–10 minutes by day. At the Macau end, the big casino-hotels run free shuttle buses to Cotai and downtown that anyone can board, guest or not.

Season, salah and the summit
October to December brings 22–28°C days, thin rain and the year's most reasonable hotel rates — chin up for the Disney queues. Summer trades that for typhoon season and humidity.
For salah, Kowloon's Masjid on Nathan Road serves Tsim Sha Tsui, and the Ammar Mosque beside the Wan Chai Islamic Centre keeps the island side covered. The Peak Tram (return HK$116, kids HK$75) hauls you up for the postcard; combine with Sky Terrace 428 for HK$182 and do it at dusk, when both skylines switch on.
Pro tip: File both visas on the same day, six to eight weeks before you fly. The HK clock and the Macau clock run separately, and the Golden Bus only helps after both stamps exist — sequential filing is how families miss their own departure week.
