Chiang Mai remains the budget king — live well on $1,200–1,500 a month, then argue with nobody when the night-market pad thai costs a dollar fifty.
Malaysia — the quiet value pick
The DE Rantau pass asks for around US$24,000 a year in income, runs twelve months and renews. Kuala Lumpur gives you 1 Gbps home fiber for roughly $40 a month, English everywhere, and — the part Pakistani readers care about — halal food as the default rather than a hunt. Comfortable life: $1,200–1,800 a month. Of all the options, this is the sane middle ground.

Most applications want three to six months of bank statements plus income proof, so start preparing those accounts now. Confirm every threshold on the official portal before paying a fee — numbers move with exchange rates and policy updates.
One quiet truth worth carrying: a passport that opens doors is a privilege. In Gaza there are developers who meet deadlines between blackouts and cannot cross a checkpoint to see the sea an hour away. Hold them in your dua when your flight lands somewhere new.
