The Hajj Window (2026–2027): When Umrah Season Pauses, What Happens to Eid al-Adha in Makkah, and How the Adahi Sacrifice System Actually Works

Umrah is sold as a year-round free-for-all — book any week, fly any week. That is true ten months of the year. For roughly two months every spring, Makkah's machinery turns itself inside out for Hajj, and the Umrah season simply stops. Families paying for an April ticket learn this the expensive way.
The quick answer: This Umrah season opened 31 May 2026, the day after Eid al-Adha, and its calendar is precise: visa issuance closes 9 March 2027, final entry is 23 March 2027, and every Umrah visa holder must be out of the Kingdom by 7 April 2027. Eid al-Adha 1448 falls around mid-May 2027, so no Umrah visa can be inside Makkah for it — by the time the Hajj tents rise, Umrah travellers have been gone for weeks. The season reopens on the same pattern: around the third week of May 2027, within days of Eid. Sacrifice at Eid runs through the Adahi system — a SAR 720 unified Hady voucher, purchasable through nine official channels, with meat reaching the needy in more than 25 countries.
The calendar, plainly

Why the pause exists — and what it is not
It is not hostility to Umrah; it is physics. During the Hajj days, nearly two million people swell into tent cities at Mina, Arafah and Muzdalifah, and the Kingdom locks movement accordingly — sites, trains and roads all pivot to permit holders. An Umrah visa has never been a Hajj visa — the Makkah Route Initiative file explains that boundary from the Hajj side. If you dream of standing in Makkah during those days, the honest route is a Hajj file — Pakistan's Hajj 2027 planner tracks the window and rates.
What the pause does leave you is Eid al-Fitr 1448 — expected around 9–10 March 2027, sitting almost exactly on the issuance deadline. Pilgrims already inside for the last ten nights, with permits and itikaf sorted, celebrate Eid in a Makkah that exhales as Ramadan's crowds fly home: hotels soften, courtyards widen, and Shawwal's first week belongs to those who linger.
The Adahi system — the sacrifice, industrialised with dignity
Eid al-Adha's sacrifice runs on a state machine built for scale:
- The Hady voucher for Hajj 1447 was fixed at SAR 720, sold through Adahi, Nusuk, Ehsan, Saudi National Bank, Banque Saudi Fransi, Al Rajhi Bank and Saudi Post counters — nine official channels. IsDB bulk procurement keeps it below market.
- In the 2025 season the project sacrificed 950,000 animals within 84 hours — slaughtering, chilling and dispatching meat to the needy in more than 25 countries, much of it canned and chilled.
- A family in Lahore or Karachi can still hold a qurbani carried out in its name through these platforms, paying online in riyals — quietly powerful alongside any Umrah carried for others.
Pro tip: Buy the Adahi voucher early in Dhul Hijjah, not on Eid morning — platforms stay open through the tashreeq days, but collection windows tighten and Saudi Post counters close on holidays.
Eid ka intezam pehle mukammal rakhein: Hajj ke din Makkah nahi ho sakte to Eid al-Fitr ka Makkah chunein, aur qurbani ka voucher Nusuk ya Adahi se pehle le lein.
Nusuk can deliver a sacrifice's meat to twenty-five countries in three days flat, and the world calls it logistics; Gaza's families have watched lorry-loads of the same mercy wait outside a closed crossing for weeks. Ya Allah, let that mercy move as fast for Palestine as the logistics does for the pilgrims, and let its families eat their Eid meal at a table no one may close. And Sudan marks Eids numbered by wars now — three, going on four — prayers said in camps whose tents have become the family home. Ya Allah, give Sudan an Eid under its own roof again, with its millions of scattered standing in their own mosques.
