Malta Schengen Visa From Pakistan 2026–2027: The New Delhi Route, the Closed Walk-Ins and the Smallest State in the EU

    By Huzi

Pakistani applicants quote each other the same rumour about Malta — that someone's cousin filed "somewhere in Islamabad" — because the truth sounds like a typo: the smallest state in the European Union keeps no diplomatic counter in Pakistan at all.

The quick answer: Malta has no embassy, no consulate and no visa application centre in Pakistan. The competent mission is the Malta High Commission in New Delhi, which works with the VFS Global appointment system, and since February 2026 the High Commission has closed walk-in submissions for all visa categories across all locations — appointment only, everywhere. A short-stay file costs the standard Schengen EUR 90 (children 6–12: EUR 45) and, once issued, a Maltese type C is a full Schengen visa: all 29 states, 90 days in any 180.

Who actually needs the Maltese desk

The main-destination rule decides whether this post is even about you. File with Malta only when:

    • Malta owns the majority of your nights — a Valletta-and-Gozo week with a Rome stopover still files at the Italian desk if Rome keeps most nights
    • Malta is your first point of entry into the Schengen area on equal-nights itineraries
    • Your purpose anchors there — a work meeting, a university visit, a family stay on the island

A five-day Malta add-on bolted onto a two-week Italy trip is an Italian file that happens to include a ferry — get this wrong and the New Delhi desk returns the application unread, months lost to a mislabelled itinerary, the same trap the general Schengen guide maps for every desk.

    The file itself

    • Passport — valid three months beyond the exit date, issued within ten years, two blank pages
    • Maltese application form — filled after the appointment is secured, not before
    • Two biometric photographs — ICAO size, white background, under six months old
    • Travel medical insurance — EUR 30,000 cover, valid across the whole Schengen area
    • Six months of bank statements — with salary slips if employed; balanced, not freshly dumped
    • Accommodation and flights — booked to match the itinerary's night count, the detail desks read first
    • Cover letter — one page that states the route, the money and the return, in that order

Pakistani files fail here for the same reasons they fail across the Schengen system: statements that spike one week before filing, itineraries that don't match bookings, funds with no explanation. Woh file sab se pehle numbers par track hota hai — the desk reads the money before it reads the letter.

    The New Delhi reality

This is the part no one warns you about: your application is decided by a mission you cannot reach on a domestic bus. The Croatia Tehran-desk guide describes the identical pattern — a file that crosses a border before it crosses a desk — and the lessons transfer: confirm the current submission channel directly with the Malta High Commission in New Delhi before paying anyone anything, because the walk-in closure of February 2026 makes appointment inventory the entire game, and every "Malta visa in 7 days" agent claim in Pakistani Facebook groups sells something that no longer exists.

Processing runs to the Schengen statutory norm — decide within 15 calendar days, extendable to 45 — but a file routed through another country's mission deserves a planning cushion of two to three months. Apply inside the six-month window before travel, early, and never book non-refundable hotels before the visa exists.

    Why people still do it

Malta is 316 square kilometres — the smallest state in the EU — and it behaves like a compressed Mediterranean. Valletta, the capital, is a UNESCO-listed grid of honey-coloured limestone built by the Knights of St John after the Great Siege of 1565, and it holds a distinction nobody wanted: among the most heavily bombed places of the Second World War, per square metre — and it rebuilt itself anyway. Mdina, the silent walled city, empties by evening into something closer to a film set than a town. Comino's Blue Lagoon is the water other countries' hotel brochures photoshop toward, and on Gozo the Ġgantija temples predate the pyramids by a thousand years. English is an official language, the euro is the currency, and everything is a bus ride from everything else.

The HTG Travels Europe desk handles Malta as a routing problem — first the nights math that decides whether Malta owns the file, then the New Delhi channel as it stands this season, then the file built to survive the appointment wait. Clients get the written checklist and a human who answers through the slow weeks — the stage where most DIY applicants discover their agent had never filed a New Delhi-routed Malta file in his life.

A city that survived the heaviest bombing of its age and rebuilt in its own limestone deserves its reputation for stubbornness. We pray Palestine's families receive the same ending Valletta got: their Gaza rebuilt by their own hands, in their own name, with the world's help freely given instead of rationed at checkpoints, and their children kept safe in their own homes rather than shelters other people's bombs made necessary. And we pray Sudan's children, learning geography in displacement camps, soon study it again from windows at home — may their classrooms reopen while they are still young enough to fill them.

Planning Malta from Pakistan? Message +92 317 5054959 — the desk counts your nights first, then confirms the New Delhi channel before anything is paid.

The Moldova visa route for Pakistanis in 2026–2027 — Europe's least-visited country runs two doors for Pakistani passports: holders of a valid Schengen type C or type D visa, or a Schengen residence permit, enter Moldova visa-free for up to 90 days, while everyone else files the eVisa on evisa.gov.md, an online-only system requiring no embassy visit but demanding an invitation or tourist voucher, around EUR 40 in commonly quoted fees and a patience of roughly 10 to 20 working days — plus Chișinău's tree-lined streets, the Cricova and Mileștii Mici underground wine cities where the world's largest wine collection survives the wars above it, Orheiul Vechi's cave monastery, the Moldovan leu, and why the Romania desk next door decides most Pakistani itineraries anyway.

Serbia Visa From Pakistan 2026–2027: The Schengen Sticker Rule That Lets You In Free — and the Beijing Desk When You Don't Have One
The Serbia visa route for Pakistanis in 2026–2027 — the rule most Pakistani travellers have never read: a 2014 Serbian government decision still on the official mfa.gov.rs books lets holders of national passports carrying a valid Schengen, UK, EU or US visa — or a Schengen, EU or US residence permit — enter, transit and stay in Serbia up to 90 days in any six-month period without applying for anything, meaning a used Schengen sticker multiplies into the Balkans; without one, Pakistani ordinary passports need visa C, and since the Serbian embassy in Tehran stopped processing Pakistani files on 30 June 2025 the competent desk is the Embassy of Serbia in Beijing, with Serbia's new Digital Travel Authorizations live since 23 April 2025 but country eligibility risk-based and Pakistanis advised to verify before relying on the portal, plus Belgrade's Kalemegdan confluence, Skadarlija, Novi Sad's EXIT festival and the dinar reality on the ground.
