How Pakistani Students Can Get Scholarships Abroad in 2025
Every scholarship on this list is fully funded, publishes its numbers openly, and takes Pakistani applicants every year. Nobody's cousin arranged it. The real filters are eligibility, timing and a statement that sounds like a person — so here is the map, and the habits that go with it.
The big six, with real numbers
- Commonwealth Scholarship (UK): full tuition, a stipend of roughly GBP 1,378 a month, airfare and a thesis grant. You apply through HEC only — direct UK applications are rejected — with the call opening around July and closing mid-October.
- Fulbright (USA): tuition, living, airfare and health cover for Master's and PhD. The window runs February to May through USEFP at usefpakistan.org — no agent needed, no attestation required at the application stage.
- Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC): tuition, dormitory and a monthly stipend in the CNY 2,500 to 3,500 range depending on level. Apply January to March; HEC-attested documents go to the embassy.
- Türkiye Bursları: tuition, dorm, stipend and flights on one portal — turkiyeburslari.gov.tr — open roughly January to February. English-taught programs need no Turkish.
- DAAD (Germany): around EUR 934 a month for Master's and EUR 1,200 for PhD, plus insurance and travel money. Windows fall October to December, and most programs want two years of work experience.
- Stipendium Hungaricum (Hungary): tuition, stipend and housing contribution, applied for through both the HEC e-portal and the Hungarian portal between January and mid-March.
The smaller cheques still worth pocketing
Chevening for a one-year UK Master's if you have two years of work experience, deadline around early November; Erasmus Mundus joint Master's across European universities with a monthly stipend near EUR 1,400 and a January deadline; the Aga Khan Foundation's half-grant, half-loan package through the AKF Pakistan office in March; MPOWER's smaller monthly awards for students heading to the US and Canada.
The documents you will need for all of them
HEC-attested degrees from eservices.hec.gov.pk; sealed, signed transcripts; IELTS, TOEFL or GRE scores sent officially through ETS or British Council; a passport valid 18 months past your course start; a two-page CV; two recommendation letters on official letterhead. Keep one digital folder and one hard folder — applications are lost hours, not documents, and the student hunting a scan at midnight loses the deadline.
The statement that actually wins
The formula is older than any AI and still unbeaten: one specific memory that pulled you into your field; what you have genuinely done about it since; the gap in Pakistan your work addresses; how this exact program, these professors and these modules close that gap; and what you will build here in your first three years back. Name names. Read it aloud once and cut every sentence that could belong to anybody else. Under 800 words.
Keep yourself safe
Legitimate scholarships charge nothing to apply — anyone demanding money to "guarantee" one is running the oldest scam in this market. Real committees never ask for passwords or bank details over email; delete those. Back up every document twice.
And when you write these applications, hold a thought for Palestine's students too — many of them abroad with a family house key on the same ring as their dorm key, home waiting since 1948. Their degrees are earned twice over, far from everyone they love. Carry them in your dua when yours is conferred.
